Pasta with Bechamel sauce and Ground Beef
It is an Egyptian meal. It is very heavy and very Yummy. This meal is very successful one at a potluck. I tend to make a couple at a time. Freeze one and cook one. It is quite a bit of work but definitely worth it.
Ingredients for Bechamel Sauce:
- 5 tablespoons of flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5.5 cups of milk
- 4 eggs
Direction for Bechamel Sauce:
On medium heat cook the flour in the butter until they are a little reddish. Let the flour/butter mixture cool down a little before adding the milk to avoid flour lumps from forming. Add milk, salt, pepper and cook over medium heat. keep mixing slowly until the milk thickens. Take the mixture off the heat. In a separate bowl break the eggs and mix them well. Take the eggs and add them to the milk mixture while mixing really fast so the eggs don't get cooked.
Ingredients for Ground Beef:
- 0.5 Kg ground beef
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 medium size onion
Directions for Ground Beef:
Dice the onion and cook it with butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper and let it cook until the beef is fully cooked
Ingredients for Pasta with Bechamel sauce and Ground Beef:
- Bechamel sauce
- Cooked ground beef
- 0.6 Kg of boiled Penne Pasta
Direction for Pasta with Bechamel sauce and Ground Beef:
Pre-heat the oven at 425°f. In a rectangular aluminum foil pan 6.6 x 5.3 x 1.8 Inches put a layer of pasta mix it with some Bechamel sauce. Then put the ground beef. I like to put a very thin layer of Bechamel sauce above the beef layer. Then a layer of Pasta topped with the rest of the Bechamel sauce. Bakes for about 35-45 minutes in the oven. Enjoy!
